EPISODE 1: PILOT SKIPPY and GUMMY are best friends who live on Jay street with their parents. Skippy's mom and dad, CHESTER and GRACE, invite Gummy's mom and dad, GENE and CAROL, over for dinner but the two boys scheme their way out of the dinner in order to watch their favorite TV show by pretending to be ill. They both plan to sneak out of their bedroom windows and go down the block to NANCY MCGUILLICUTTY's house to watch the show but Gummy gets caught and Skippy continues to pretend to be ill so his parents let him watch the show at home and call it and early night.
EPISODE 2: TWO OUTS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH Skippy and Gummy play in a pick-up stickball game and Gummy throws the game away on the last play causing all of the kids in the neighborhood to pick on him until Skippy comes to his defense and they all realize it's a team sport and they were all equally responsible for the loss.
EPISODE 3: FETCH Skippy and Gummy search for MRS. MCGUILLICUTTY's dog, WILLIE, who has apparently run away. They search an old junkyard, the neighborhood park and even the vet's clinic. Finally, they talk to the local beat cop, OFFICER GANZ, and he finds Willie in Skippy and Gummy's tree-house. Gummy explains that he had no idea Willie was hiding from them all this time and Skippy steps in to explain that Gummy must have just missed the dog when he searched the tree-house earlier. Mrs. McGuillicutty rewards Skippy with a dollar and Skippy is ecstatic.
EPISODE 4: MATINEE Gummy's uncle, CLYDE, comes to visit and takes the kids to the movies. Skippy and Gummy get separated from uncle Clyde and run into all manner of different adults in the theater, lobby and projection room until they finally locate old uncle Clyde in a phone booth. When Skippy's dad, Chester, talks to the boys later in the episode, Clyde explains how the boys handled themselves like men and were very careful not to talk to strangers or go wandering off. Skippy is thanked by Gene, Gummy's father, for looking for his boy.
EPISODE 5: MEN AT WORK Skippy and Gummy destroy a family heirloom and try to cover it up by hiding it in the garage. The broken vase is discovered diousness of a new school year.by Carol, Gummy's mother, she is heart-broken and very upset with Gummy. Having no idea of the value of vase, Skippy decides to set up a lemonade stand and the two boys go about making a batch of lemonade and trying to make back enough to replace the vase. Gummy and Skippy manage to sell nearly $10 worth of lemonade in one afternoon and Carol is so impressed and flattered by the jesture, she thanks Skippy for his thoughtfulness.
EPISODE 6: YOURS AND MINES Skippy and Gummy fight over baseball cards. Skippy takes half of the card Gummy discarded and gets his mom, Grace, to glue it back together. When Gummy discovers this, Skippy denies it is the same card. Gummy searches through the family garbage for the half-card he discarded and just as he is about to give up, Skippy shows up with his dad, Chester, and apologizes to Gummy for lying. Skippy and his dad leave with the card and Gummy is scolded by his mother, Carol, for playing in the trash.
EPISODE 7: NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING (NEVER BROADCAST) Skippy and Gummy talk about what they both hope Santa got each for Christmas. The two families are opening up presents together in the morning and Gummy is sleeping over at Skippy's. The two boys decide to wake up early and wait for Santa. Thinking they hear Santa, they discover a burglar breaking into the house. The burglar is so embarassed he confesses he is just a little down on his luck and over Gummy's objections Skippy gives him some of the milk and cookies they had set aside for Santa. In the morning, Skippy is overjoyed to have gotten exactly what he wanted. Gummy gets clothes.
Scripted but unfilmed episodes: Skippy and Gummy dread being sent off to summer camp and decide to run away. Skippy and Gummy mourn the last day of summer and try to have one last big adventure before being condemned to the boredom and tediousness of a new school year.
Valentines day episode where Gummy wants to go to a school party with Nancy and tries to get Skippy to help but Skippy ends up going to the party with Nancy instead. |
